Corporate Charity - Overview

Monty's Maggie's Appeal has been selected as the Ferguson Group corporate charity for 2012 and beyond.  Launched in June 2010, the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal aims to raise £3m to build and run a new Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on the Foresterhill Health Campus.  It is hoped that construction of the centre will start on site in August 2012. With a construction programme of around nine months, Maggie’s anticipate the centre being complete by early summer 2013. The £3m raised will fund the capital build and help sustain two years of running costs.

Steven Ferguson, Ferguson Group Chairman & CEO, commented: “The Ferguson Group was delighted to select the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal as its chosen charity, and are proud to be one of the key sponsors. As well as being a very worthy cause, it gave us an opportunity to put something back into the North East of Scotland, an area we have benefited from in so many ways. Aberdeen’s Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre will provide a unique and much needed service to the people of Grampian, and we are pleased to play a part in helping the appeal reach its fundraising target.”

The Ferguson Group will be organising a number of fundraising initiatives throughout 2012, including cake sales, cycling events, off-road driving and sales of our charity cookbook – Monty’s Maggie’s Menus.  Click here for further information, or to purchase a cookbook.

Ferguson Seacabs - Australia Sponsors MelanomaWA

Carol Pearce, General Manager of Ferguson Seacabs Australia, said: “Living and working in a hot climate such as Western Australia, where summer temperatures can reach the 45°C, I think it is only fitting that we do what we can to support such a worthwhile organisation as MelanomaWA.

Within our business we have been providing education to our team on the importance of sun protection and developing healthy lifestyle habits (both at work and at home) that enable us to enjoy the best of our Australian summer, whilst still maintaining healthy skin. I’m pleased that we are able to support MelanomaWA through our annual Christmas donation programme and encourage all our readers to visit their website for more information www.melanomawa.org.au

Ferguson Team Tackles Norsjørittet

If you like cycling and you like a challenge, you must consider entering the Norsjørittet at least once in your life. 12,000 racers on a beautiful coastal 91km course in Norway is an incredible sight.

This year a team from Ferguson Norge tackled the course, which is a mixture of roadway, gravel track and offroad terrain.

The race starts in Egersund, in the western part of Rogaland, and follows the ‘North Sea Route’ towards Sandnes, where it ends. The day can be broken into sections, with beautiful scenery, feeding stations and even an arts and cultural centre to visit along the way. The main objective is to complete the course and Ferguson Norge did - looking every bit a racing team too!

Ladies Off-Road Driving Challenge

On Sunday 7 October a number of Ferguson Group employees and some of their family members undertook a ‘Ladies Off-Road Driving Challenge’ organised by The Buchan Off-Road Drivers Club in aid of Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal. The ladies embarked on a day of learning how to drive a variety of 4WD vehicles in off-road conditions, all of them completing four different courses across rutted and hilly terrain. A mini-digger challenge also added to the unique experience. Everyone enjoyed the day and we are looking forward to a future event in Spring 2013. The event generated over £1,300.00.
